EXPIRY OF EXPATS’ IQAMA DOES NOT PREVENT EXTENSION OF VISITORS’ VISIT VISA

The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) affirmed that extending a visitor’s visit visa is not prevented by the expiration of an expat’s Iqama.

The Jawazat confirmed this in response to a question about whether they would be unable to renew the tourists’ visit visas in the event that the Iqama expired. It was confirmed that they could do so even if the Iqama had already run out.

It further stated that recruitment firms, not domestic workers themselves, are in charge of receiving domestic workers who are arriving to work in Saudi Arabia for the first time while the employer would be in charge of the domestic workers who entered the Kingdom with an exit and re-entry visa.
